Help, I Need to Replace My Mag Release!

We’ve gotten quite a few questions recently from California JRC owners wondering how they convert their fixed magazine release (bullet button) back to the standard push-to-drop magazine release.

It’s pretty simple to accomplish – all you need is a screwdriver and a part that costs less than $20 and you’ll be good to go.

Here’s the scoop straight from the GM at the factory:

To remove a bullet button, use a small, straight blade screw driver to unscrew the center post in the button to release the mag catch.

Then, either press or drive out that bolt which will remove the pressed in button. Thread the replacement button onto the replacement stem (if not already done so), insert the spring onto the stem and place into the Magwell through the hole and out the backside. Screw on the mag catch with the beveled side towards the internal Magwell.

Finally, replace the whole assembly with a Magazine Catch Assembly available here on the website for $18.25 including shipping. Just click the button below.
